A female in her 70s underwent right lobectomy in another hospital 8 years earlier. Pathological diagnosis was papillary carcinoma,and her course was followed up. She was referred to our hospital due to swelling of the entire thyroid gland.A hard mass (8 cm in diameter) was palpable. Ultrasonography showed an irregular,poorly delineated tumor with solid pattern internal echoes.

A male in his 60s underwent left lobectomy 5 months earlier under a diagnosis of adenomatous goiter. In a part of the capsule, components of undifferentiated carcinoma were observed. Subsequently, a hard nodule (3 cm in diameter) developed at the same site.
